NBA Scoring Gauntlet

Short version: you can play without an account. Signing in is only for posting a score, and all it stores is your email and the name you pick. Here is the full version.

Playing needs no account
You can play every mode, keep your best streaks, and read the leaderboard without signing in or giving us anything. An account is only needed to post a score to the leaderboard, and that is the only thing it unlocks.
If you sign in with Google
We receive your Google account's identifier and email address, and we store both, plus the leaderboard name you choose. That is the whole record. We never see your Google password, and we do not ask Google for your contacts, calendar, profile picture, or anything else about you.
What a leaderboard score shows
A posted score is public: the name you picked and the streak you reached. Your email address is never shown to anyone and never appears on the site. The name exists so a score belongs to someone, and so nobody can post under a name that is not theirs.
Your best scores stay on your device
Best streaks and the toggles on Settings are saved with your browser's local storage, on your device only. They are never transmitted anywhere, and clearing your browser data or tapping Reset in Settings erases them for good. Signing in does not sync them.
Cookies
One cookie, and only if you sign in: it keeps you signed in between visits and is deleted when you sign out. There are no analytics, advertising, or tracking scripts on this site, and no third parties reading what you do here.
Deleting your account
Get in touch from the address you signed in with and we will delete the account and every score attached to it. There is no automated way to do this yet.
Hosting and storage
The site is hosted on Vercel and accounts and leaderboard scores are stored in a Neon Postgres database. Like any host, Vercel's infrastructure may log standard technical data (such as IP address and request timing) to operate and secure that service. That logging happens at the hosting layer, not in this app's code, and is covered by Vercel's own privacy policy.
Player and team data
The statistics in the game are public sports records, not personal data about you, sourced from Basketball-Reference via a public Kaggle dataset. See About the Data in Settings for details on how that dataset is built.
If this changes
If a future version of this site collects anything beyond what is described here, this page will be updated first.
